Hanoi is working to ensure that the best products from around the country are available in the capital for the Lunar New Year.
Hanoi has drawn up a plan to ensure supplies during the Tet holiday (Vietnam's traditional Lunar New Year) with an aim to help "everyone, every house has good supply to celebrate Tet."
Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen made the statement at a meeting with relevant agencies earlier this week. She praised the city authorities' preparations for Tet, calling them proactive and responsible.
The official agreed with the Hanoi Labor Federation's plan to hold Tet reunions for workers' families and to provide gifts and bus tickets for those who work far away to return home for Tet.

Tuyen asked the Capital Military High Command and the Hanoi Police to draw up an effective coordination plan to ensure absolute security and order in the city during festive periods.
"The Hanoi Electricity Corporation must develop a plan to ensure power supply," Tuyen said.
She stressed the need to ensure sufficient supply and keep prices stable during the holidays.
Director of Hanoi's Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Bach Lien Huong said the city will continue to take care of more than 38,800 people with meritorious services and social policy beneficiaries. The budget for this program has increased by nearly VND19 billion (US$773,064), and support for policy beneficiaries has increased year by year.
In addition, the city has also developed a Tet plan to take care of more than 6,000 people in social protection centers. It is expected to spend VND500,000 ($20.34) on Tet meals for each person/day, Huong said.

Pham Quang Thanh, President of the Hanoi Labor Federation, said that the federation has made a plan to help the disadvantaged during the Lunar New Year, including "Tet Reunion", "Free Bus Ride" and "Online Tet Market."
"It is expected that the federation can afford about 10,000 gifts for 10,000 workers, each worth VND500,000 ($20.34)," Thanh expressed hope.
Tran Thi Phuong Lan, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that during the Lunar New Year, the department has instructed businesses to prepare goods with an estimated total value of about VND40.9 trillion ($1.6 billion) to meet people's demand during Tet.
"To stabilize commodity prices by controlling supply and demand, the department will not only prepare plans but also ensure production and business activities, market control, and power supply during Tet," Phuong said.
She emphasized that there will be no shortage of Tet goods, and the department is committed to promoting shopping. Specifically, the Department of Industry and Trade will bring the finest products from all over the country to the city for Tet and continue to organize the traditional 60-70 spring flower markets.
