Residents of the Times City urban complex's Park 11 Block are not allowed to go out as from 1:30 pm on May 23.

Eleven people, who have directly contacted the 11-year-old Covid-19 patient in Hanoi’s Times City urban complex, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to the Ministry of Health.

The boy has been isolated in the northern city of Hai Phong. His sample has been transferred to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control for further testing.

A 43-year-old woman poll worker residing in the Goldmark City urban area in Bac Tu Liem district who was on duty from 6:30 to 9:30 am on Sunday, tested positive for the coronavirus Monday.

"The woman was not a member of the election committee and only among the volunteers," said the Bac Tu Liem People's Committee, adding that contact tracing efforts are underway, while over 200 people having been sampled for Covid-19 testing.

The woman made contact with another confirmed coronavirus case on May 20, who is her coworker, the People's Committee said, adding that further tests are required before she could be confirmed a Covid-19 patient.

Four buildings with over 5,700 people in Goldmark City have been isolated. Authorities are also re-routing traffic near the area, and disinfection is underway.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Health announced two Covid-19 infections on Monday morning, both from India and put under quarantine right after entering Hanoi.

The two Indian patients entered Vietnam on April 24 and were sent to quarantine upon landing. They tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday, the health ministry said in a morning report.

Hanoi city has recorded 291 Covid-19 cases so far in the nation's latest coronavirus wave began on April 29, including 89 at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases No.2 in Dong Anh district and 48 at the K Cancer Hospital.

Vietnam has confirmed 2,221 local Covid-19 infection cases in 30 cities and provinces since the new outbreak flared up in late April, the Ministry of Health announced, adding that over a million people have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

The country has seen 2,721 recoveries and 43 deaths.
