Hanoi residents can pay environmental sanitation fees via e-wallets

Hanoi will continue to reduce unnecessary procedures, bring more government services online and boost the use of cashless payments in the city.

The Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited (Urenco) has launched a pilot program using information technology to streamline the collection of environmental sanitation fees, aiming to enhance convenience for residents.

Urenco has worked with e-wallets such as VN Pay, Momo and Payoo to facilitate cashless payment of environmental sanitation service fees in response to a directive from the Hanoi City People's Committee.

Since July 2024, Urenco has been working with Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank to allow payments through an online banking application to streamline fee collection. Customers can pay the fees with the assistance of bank tellers.

Providing online payment solutions is one of Urenco's unceasing efforts to improve the quality of customer service, in line with the trend of digital transformation and application of information technology in Hanoi's e-commerce development.

In early February, Ha Minh Hai, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, told a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh that Hanoi would continue to cut unnecessary procedures, bring more government services online, and boost the use of cashless payments in the city.

In particular, for the convenience of people and businesses, Hanoi has promoted the development of digital infrastructure and digital applications.

The deputy chairman pledged that based on the momentum created by the results achieved in 2024, Hanoi will continue to pilot more models in innovation, and digital transformation and under Project 06 develop applications for population data, identification, and electronic authentication for national digital transformation.
