Hanoi secures supply of goods in late 2024

Hanoi authorities plan to stockpile goods and ensure food supplies to prevent price hikes in the final months of the year.

Hanoi will work to strengthen links with other provinces and cities to promote the consumption of OCOP products, fruits, and agricultural products in the capital's market.

The Hanoi People's Committee has called for ensuring that supply meets the demand for goods at the end of 2024 and Lunar New Year 2025, with a focus on rice, pork, chicken, duck, seafood, poultry eggs, processed foods, vegetables, sugar, cooking oil, spices, milk for children under 6 years old. Goods in high demand during the Tet holiday are predicted to be jams, sweets, wine, beer, and soft drinks.

The agency has requested that manufacturers boost production by at least 30% in order to satisfy year-end demand. Businesses are rushing to prepare and send essential goods and items to the distribution channels.

The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade will launch demand stimulation programs in the last few months of the year, in particular, the Hanoi Promotion Month will be held with about 800-1,000 retail points and 50 golden promotion points. Participating businesses will offer discounts of 30-100% on registered products. Other events such as the "Hanoi Shopping Festival", "Hanoi Mega Sale", "Golden Day of Shock Prices" and others are planned during the promotion month.

In November, the Hanoi Midnight Sale will run from November 29 to 30, attracting around 200 businesses, shopping centers, supermarkets, production and business facilities, e-commerce platforms, and e-commerce websites.

All activities are aimed at helping the capital's economy grow at the planned rate of 6.5% or more.

Hanoi's regional connectivity with other provinces and cities nationwide continues to be strengthened, showing high efficiency in stimulating demand and promoting the capital's products.

The city would intensify the "Vietnamese Buy Vietnamese Products" campaign to support enterprises in production and sales. In recent years, domestic manufacturing enterprises, especially those in Hanoi, have captured the public's preferences through the "Vietnamese Goods Loved by Consumers" program.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued a decision on the organization of a national promotion program called "Vietnam Grand Sale 2024". The program is set to take place from December 2 to 31 across the country, combining traditional and e-commerce trade activities to attract production and business enterprises in all sectors.

In the first nine months of 2024, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade worked promptly to ensure the balance of supply and demand of goods and supported food for people in localities affected by Typhoon Yagi and floods.

Recently, the department organized the Hanoi Safe Food and Agricultural Products Fair 2024 with the participation of 120 booths from 70 food production and business enterprises in Hanoi and other provinces; the Mid-Autumn Festival Food Safety Festival 2024 with 100 booths of 96 units; the Fruit and Agricultural Products Week of Provinces and Cities 2024 with 70 booths of 50 units.

Over 2,200 OCOP products of Hanoi have been evaluated and classified to promote production and business activities.
