The visits aims to boost investment in Hanoi and cooperation in tourism.
A delegation of Hanoi’s officials has visited Greece and Denmark to seek investment and cooperation in tourism from the two European countries.
The delegation, which includes representatives from different agencies, is led by Deputy Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha, the Kinh Te & Do Thi newspaper reported.
Hanoi – Athens cooperation
On August 16, Hanoi’s representatives worked with Argo Travel Group in Athens for experience learning and promotion of tourism between the two countries as well as Hanoi and Athens.
Speaking at the meeting with Hanoi’s delegation, Argo Travel Group’s Director Fanoudis said that Argo, which provides high-quality services in Greece for worldwide travel industry, has cooperated with Vietnam and set up branches and offices in several global famous tourist attractions.
He expected that Argo will cooperate with Hanoi and boost its operations in Vietnam in the future as the company is delivering quality services to both traditional and new markets and offering innovative travel products and solutions all around the world.
Fanoudis said Vietnam is a safe destination with amazing landscape, good cuisine, good accommodation and services with reasonable prices, and diversified culture but information on Vietnam and Hanoi remains modest that leave the country and city invisible in the first choices in Asia for Greek visitors.
He suggested that potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Greece remains large and the two countries should grasp opportunities for further cooperation in different fields, especially in tourism.
In turn, Deputy Chairwoman of the municipal People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha emphasized the need to promote foreign economic affairs to develop tourism between Vietnam and Greece as well as Hanoi and Athens with specifically-designed tours in winter and summer to offer different choices for Greek visitors.
Accordingly, businesses from both countries need to participate in international tourism fairs and spread information on tourism of the two countries.
She said Hanoi, through the Embassy of Vietnam in Athens, will provide information on investment, trade, and tourism policies to Greek businesses. Argo agreed to spread information on Hanoi and Vietnam Grand Prix 2020 – the country’s first ever F1 race – to be held in Hanoi.
During the visit in Greece, the delegation took some tours to famous places in Athens to learn experience in tourism development.
Hanoi – Copenhagen
On August 21, the delegation worked with the Danish Chamber of Commerce (Dansk Erhverv) – one of the largest professional business organizations in Denmark working as chief negotiator on behalf of its members on a number of collective agreements with the trade unions.
Jacob Ravn, head of Dansk Erhverv, said Vietnam-Denmark cooperation is significant in maritime shipment, tourism, and pharmaceuticals. However, the two-way trade remains modest and he expected the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will help boost the bilateral trade.
He said that Vietnam and Hanoi in particular would be destinations for Danish investors if the country and the city pursue sustainable growth, offer open business environment, qualified manpower with English proficiency, and specialize in manufacturing.
Phung Thi Hong Ha spoke highly of the recommendations, expecting Dansk Erhverv to boost investment in Hanoi while the city, in turn, would review its investment policies to relax regulations on attracting investment.
