Hanoi signs cooperation agreement with Cairo

The signing of this agreement has special significance as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Egypt (September 1, 1963 - September 1, 2023).

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen and Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel A'al signed a cooperation agreement on July 27, marking a major milestone in bilateral relations between the two capitals.

This agreement signifies the joint commitment of both cities to strengthen friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding in various fields such as culture, science, education, health, tourism, sports, environment, and trade for the mutual benefit of both parties.

Its signing has special significance as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Egypt (September 1, 1963 - September 1, 2023).

The agreement marks an important milestone in strengthening and expanding potential cooperation between the two capitals in politics, economy, investment, tourism, culture, and other fields. The friendly relations and cooperation between Hanoi and Cairo are expected to contribute to the long-standing and positive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Egypt and to consolidate it in the coming period.

This move towards friendship and cooperation between Hanoi and Cairo is the result of visits by senior leaders from Vietnam and Egypt since 2017. During these meetings, the two sides reached a consensus to facilitate the signing of cooperation agreements between Hanoi and Cairo, thereby fostering even stronger ties between the two nations.

The signing takes place during the visit of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang to Egypt.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen delivered a letter from Chairman Tran Sy Thanh to the Governor of Cairo, inviting him to pay an official visit to Hanoi in 2023.

During this visit, the two sides would have meaningful discussions, exchange ideas and formulate concrete programs and action plans to implement the agreement signed between the two cities.

The leaders of the two capitals expressed their shared hope that once the cooperation agreement is signed, authorities of the two cities will work closely together to implement the specific provisions outlined in the agreement.

The ultimate goal, they said, is to ensure that these cooperative efforts bring tangible and practical benefits to the people of both Hanoi and Cairo.
