Hanoi stimulates shopping demand of suburban residents

Bringing Tet's products to suburban areas has helped improve access to safe, quality products at reasonable prices for people living in remote areas.

The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade will organize numerous events, fairs, and weekly product presentations to bring Tet (Lunar New Year) products closer to residents of suburban and industrial areas and stimulate purchases.

Accordingly, to ensure the supply of essential products in the last days of the year and the coming Lunar New Year, Hanoi has launched a program to stabilize the market of essential products in the city.

Companies joining the program have steadily developed distribution systems to bring essential products to residents. In districts far from the center of Hanoi, they have established more than 12,000 sales channels throughout the city, including 28 shopping malls, 132 supermarkets, more than 8,000 convenience stores, nearly 1,300 stalls in traditional markets, and 60 OCOP (One Commune- One Product) items outlets.

According to Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Acting Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, to support program participants in need of loans to ensure the supply of necessities, the department collected loan demands from nine enterprises, with a total capital of 889 billion dong (nearly US$38 million) and referred them to the State Bank of Vietnam - Hanoi Branch to facilitate the lending.

To increase the program's effectiveness, Phuong Lan stressed that, in addition to mobile delivery, businesses must be facilitated and supported in terms of mechanisms and policies to develop local brick-and-mortar stores.

In addition, effective linkages between Hanoi and other provinces and cities are indispensable in the field of industry and trade since they help enterprises tap various sources of goods with quality and reasonable prices from different suppliers for the Hanoi market.

Bringing Tet's products to suburban areas have not only contributed to allowing people in remote areas to access safe and quality products at reasonable prices but also to support the "Vietnamese people buy Vietnamese products" campaign.
