For building new-style rural areas, Hanoi will keep achieving and over-fulfilling the 19 criteria on different aspects, aiming to boost the development of rural regions in Vietnam.
Despite the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, Hanoi has made great steps in building new-style rural areas in the first eight months of 2020, Kinh Te & Do Thi reported.
According to Nguyen Van Chi, deputy chief of New-style Rural Areas Office in Hanoi, six districts of the city have met new-style rural criteria, including Dan Phuong, Dong Anh, Thanh Tri, Hoai Duc , Quoc Oai and Gia Lam.
Chi added that it is expected by the end of 2020, the number of districts meeting the criteria of new style rural area in the city will be 12 together with Son Tay town.

In order to accomplish the above goal, the office suggested the districts should focus on completing the new style rural area dossier for submitting to competent authorities for evaluation.
In the immediate future, priority should be given to allocating resources to communes under the plan for them to meet the new-style rural criteria in 2020.
Besides, the achieved criteria should be upgraded so that the accomplishments are long lasting and sustainable.
In 2019, Hanoi’s authorities set the target to strive to have all rural districts meet new-style criteria by 2025.
For building new-style rural areas, a term that refers to building rural areas into modern ones, Hanoi will keep achieving and over-fulfilling the 19 criteria on different aspects, aiming to boost the development of rural regions in Vietnam.
By 2020, socio-economic infrastructure in rural areas of Hanoi has been built to basically meet the requirements of production development and people's life.
For improving farmers’ lives, Hanoi strives to increase farmers’ per capita income in rural areas to VND50 million (US$2,150) per year or more by late 2020. The proportion of employed laborers with regular jobs will reach over 95%. The poverty rate in rural areas will decrease to less than 1.5%.
Over the last ten years, municipal authorities have successfully engaged thousands of collectives, individuals, businesses and households in contributing to the building of new-style rural areas with more than VND14.74 trillion (US$633.7 million) raised.
