Hanoi students win big at Junior Science Olympiad

The Hanoi team has consistently achieved outstanding results, affirming the quality and reputation of the Vietnamese education sector.

THE HANOI TIMES — All six Hanoi students competing at the 22nd International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO 2025) in Russia have won medals, earning three silvers and three bronzes, according to the municipal Department of Education and Training.

Representing Vietnam this year, all six students are 10th graders from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. The three silver medalists are Do Bao Trang, Hoang Khoi Nguyen and Tran Ngoc Hung, while the bronze medals went to Nguyen Dong Quan, Trinh Nguyen Hung and Do Manh Hung.

Taking place from November 23 to December 2 at the Sirius territory in Russia, the IJSO 2025 gathered 150 contestants from 24 countries and territories.

Being a prestigious international competition for students under 15 years old, the IJSO is hosted on a rotating basis by the education ministries of participating countries around the world.

The contest aims to encourage early engagement with practical scientific knowledge, foster global educational cooperation and intensify cultural exchange among students and teachers within the international scientific community.

For many years, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has been entrusted by the Ministry of Education and Training and the municipal People’s Committee with selecting and preparing students for the IJSO.

The Hanoi team has consistently achieved outstanding results since its first participation in 2007, affirming the quality and reputation of Vietnam’s specialized education sector.

Over the past 15 years, Hanoi teachers and students have built an international network for scientific research and innovation in teaching and learning methods. They have promoted Vietnam as a peaceful, friendly and dynamic country to international friends.
