Hanoi students win first place in 2024 National Youth Chess Championship

The annual tournament helps identify outstanding players in preparation for upcoming national and international competitions.

Students from Hanoi have topped the medal table in the 2024 National Youth Chess Championship for the Doppelherz Cup.

  

In particular, Hanoi's chess players won a total of 58 gold medals, 47 silver medals, and 56 bronze medals.

Dau Khuong Duy (U13 Blitz) and Banh Gia Huy (U15 Rapid) were among the Hanoi players who won individual gold medals.

The Ho Chi Minh City team finished second with 52 gold, 47 silver, and 56 bronze medals, while the Danang team came in third with nine gold, seven silver, and 22 bronze medals.

Nearly 1,300 players from 53 teams nationwide competed in the 2024 National Youth Chess Championships, held in the northern province of Bac Giang from May 24 to June 5.

Hosted by the Vietnam Chess Federation, the tournament saw male and female athletes of different age groups compete in four disciplines: standard chess, traditional chess, rapid chess, and blitz chess.

The organizing committee awards outstanding players at the tournament.

At the tournament, both male and female athletes of various age groups competed in four disciplines: standard chess, traditional chess, rapid chess, and blitz chess.

In particular, the competition attracted the participation of young, talented players who have won international titles, including Dau Khuong Duy, Nguyen Vu Bao Chau, Nguyen Le Cam Hien, Nguyen Nam Kiet, Nguyen Hong Nhung, Nguyen Truong An Khang, Dinh Nho Kiet, and Nguyen Minh Chi.

The annual tournament is an ideal opportunity for the national youth team to scout outstanding players in preparation for upcoming national and international competitions.

It also has the goal of promoting the sport among juniors and students while at the same time providing them with a platform for competition.
