Hanoi’s authorities have requested speedier preparations for hosting the SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11 in 2021 in the capital.
Hanoi will be a host of the opening and closing ceremony, and the competition of 23 sports out of a total of 36 sports to be held during the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) and the 11th ASEAN Para Games (Para Games 11), according to the latest directive of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee on November 12.

According the directive, the Hanoi Party Committee has requested speedier preparations for hosting the SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11 in 2021 in the city.
Specifically, the municipal Party Committee asked concerned agencies to focus on reviewing, building and upgrading sports facilities and complexes to ensure progress, quality and safety; renovating existing facilities; accelerating urban embellishment, mobilizing the people in ensuring social order and security and building the capital more elegant, civilized and modern.
According to the directive, facilities and equipment for training the city's athletes should be upgraded and their remunerations improved. The athletes attaining medals at SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11, and major national and international sporting events would be timely rewarded.
The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports will select coaches and athletes with ethics, capabilities and qualifications to join the Vietnam Sports Delegation.
The City’s Commission for Communication and Education is in charge of advising the municipal Party Committee to disseminate the directive to the public and report the results to the Standing Committee of the municipal Party Committee.
