At a press conference on November 1, General Director of Informa Markets, an organizer of the expo, BT Lee said that the plastic industry in Vietnam posts an average annual growth rate of 16-18% and accounted for 6.7% of the country’s gross domestic product in 2017.

The plastic and rubber industry in Vietnam is one of the key industries. However, Vietnam is currently facing "white pollution" when plastic consumption ranks third in ASEAN region and among the highest in the world, BT Lee stressed.

First organized in 2007, Plastics & Rubber Vietnam is expected to create a platform for plastic manufacturers and processors, as well as support the development of Vietnam's plastics and rubber industry.

Plastics & Rubber Hanoi 2019 will showcase and introduce a range of modern machinery and equipment, along with the most advanced solutions to fully meet the needs of industry development.

The exhibition promises to be a great opportunity for rubber plastic manufacturers and processors to promote their products, expand their markets, build branding, establish partnerships, and seek business opportunities in Vietnam’s market and across the region.

The event will see the attendance of 200 plastic and rubber businesses from 14 countries and territories around the world. They will have the opportunity to get information about the latest products, trends, developments and services from various national and international exhibitors.

Currently, Vietnam’s plastic products are available in more than 150 countries. The three largest markets for Vietnam's plastic products are Japan, the EU and the US. Specifically, exports of plastic products to Japan reached more than US$671.76 million in 2018.

According to preliminary statistics provided by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first eight months of 2019, the total export turnover of Vietnam's plastic industry increased by 13.9% year-on-year or equivalent to US$228 million. Plastic exports reached US$280 million in September 2019, an increase of 15.9% compared to the same period of 2018.
