Hanoi to launch Action Month for Children 2018

The Hanoi People’s Committee has recently granted Plan No. 101/KH-UBND, launching the Action Month for Children in 2018 under the theme “For children’s safe and healthy living in the digital world”.

Under the Plan, the Capital city sets up following targets: 100% of children in difficult circumstances, those in poor households, disadvantaged areas and ethnic minorities will be concerned and supported on International Children’s Day (June 1); organizing safe and useful entertainment activities in summer vacation in association with child protection, prevention and control of child abuse, violence, injuries and accidents.

People’s Committees of districts, towns are tasked to organize Child Forums in the localities; allocate funds to build and repair, supplement entertainment facilities for children at minimum five playgrounds in the community, especially disadvantaged areas and ethnic minorities; strengthen the popularization of the Action Month for Children on radio systems in communes, wards under diversified ways. 
It is necessary to launch communication campaigns on preventing child abuse, violence, injury and accident; improve living environment to ensure safety in families, schools and communities; organize contests under the topic on prevention child abuse on the  internet; open vocational training courses to provide living skills and background knowledge for children in using the digital world more intelligently, safe and healthy.
Child Forums at all levels aims to create chances for children to show their opinions and aspirations for concerned issued and offer measures to prevent child abuse, violence on internet environment. 
Efforts should be made to mobilize the participation of press agencies and individuals (contributors, volunteers) in detecting activities of child abuse and violence; focus on giving aids to abused children in the area; urge and monitor the implementation of the Action Month for Children in 2018 and so on.
