From June 1 to June 30, 2016, Hanoi will launch an annual programme to eradicate HIV transmitted from mothers to children. The programme is in full swing this June.
This month, a communication campaign is set to feature daily radio broadcasts on the benefit of using antiretroviral drugs (ARV) in early pregnancy for women who have contracted HIV, as well as information on ARV distribution locations.
Free consultation and check-ups will be organised at HIV hotbeds and in disadvantaged areas. In 2014, 57.1 percent of HIV-infected pregnant women received ARV therapy, and 64.7 percent of expectant mothers received HIV tests.
In particular, in this peak month, Hanoi will step up HIV testing and counseling for pregnant women, counseling and testing right the first time when pregnant women attend antenatal clinics at the health facility; expand HIV testing and counseling for pregnant women at the community level; enhance form of mobile test situation where there is high, pregnant women that have access to healthcare.
