A series of events, including a fashion show , will mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral ties between Vietnam and Italy this year, announced Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Cecilia Piccioni.
“We’re about to hold a fashion show, jointly participated by Italian designers and Vietnamese silk manufacturers, in 2018,” said Italian Ambassador to Vietnam during the meeting with Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung on Jan 31. “We hope to have strong support from the City for these events.”
The event will take place in late March 2018 at the Chavassieux Square (Vuon hoa Con Coc) near Casa Italia in Le Phung Hieu Street. The Italian Ambassador said he would cooperate with Hanoi authorities to ensure its success.
A delegation from Milan would visit Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in February 2018 within the framework of “World Cities” program conducted by the European Union (EU), according to Piccioni. She said the Italian leading ship builder D'Amico wished to give the Hanoi Mayor a model ship named “Hanoi Sky” as a friendship symbol.
Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung affirmed the City’s support for these activities, saying that Hanoi is happy to host these events celebrating 45th years of Vietnam-Italian ties. Chung also pledged to facilitate by every means the infrastructure needs and procedure for the anniversary activities, adding that the City wished to see the upcoming visit of Milan delegation to reinforce bilateral cooperation in urban development.
Chung also urged Italian businesses to participate in the City’s plan to develop tourism facilities in the West Lake area. Hanoi will host a boat racing festival at the West Lake on February 24, with the participation of representatives from some Vietnamese provinces and cities as well as other ASEAN member-states.
Vietnam and Italy forged two-way trade of over US$4.3 billion last year, making Italy the 31st largest business partner of the country.
Vietnam is an important market for Italian footwear, textile and fashion products and services, while Italian companies consider Vietnam a potential market in the region and a perfect gateway to access the ASEAN market.
