Hanoi to properly develop transportation modes

The Hanoi People’s Committee Office has recently issued Official Letter No.3398/VP-DT on requesting the Hanoi Railway Transport One Member Limited Company, the Hanoi Transportation Corporation (TRANSERCO) to continue taking key measures to properly develop transportation modes in the city.

Under the Official Letter, the Municipal People’s Committee received Official Letter No. 4370/BGTVT-VT dated April 26, 2018 of the Ministry of Transport on continuing deploying a series of measures to properly develop transportation modes in centrally-run cities.

The Department of Transport is tasked to advise the Municipal People’s Committee and cooperate with specialized agencies under the Ministry of Transport to carry out the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung; take more solutions to effectively implement Decision No.280/QD-TTg on approving the project on development of public passenger transport services by buses in the period of 2012-2020 and Decision No.3446/QD-BGTVT on approving the project on improving the quality of public passenger transport system by buses by 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Transport will make plans on traffic organization to ensure the implementation as directed at clause 2 of Official Letter No.2543/VPCP-CN of the Government Office; give a priority to develop public passenger transport models (bus, taxi, coach) in urban traffic organization so as to create favorable conditions for people to use public transport services and gradually reduce private vehicles; strengthen the connection among transportation modes to improve the quality of services, such as smart ticket application, development of buses using clean fuels, etc.
Regarding to the above-mentioned matters, the Municipal People’s Committee assigned the Department of Transport to take prime responsibility and coordinate with departments, sectors and relevant agencies to urgently carry out the direction of the Ministry o f Transport at Official Letter No.4370/BGTVT-VT and then give a report to the Municipal People’s Committee in May, 2015.
The Municipal People’s Committee requested relevant departments, sectors, units to urgently coordinate with the Department of Transport to take solutions for proper development of transportation modes in centrally-run cities.
