On the 2019 Lunar New Year festivities, which officially start on February 5, Hanoians will have a chance to enjoy 15-minute fireworks displays on early February 5 at 30 venues, according to the Hanoi People’s Committee.
Accordingly, besides Hoan Kiem Lake, fireworks will go off in West Lake, Nam Tu Liem, Hai Ba Trung, Ha Dong districts and the outskirts town of Son Tay. Each will feature 500 high-range fireworks and 600 low-range firework scaffolds. In addition, Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake and Nam Tu Liem distric will celebrate special fireworks artistic performances.
Low-range fireworks shows are set to take place in the districts of Dong Da, Thanh Xuan, Ba Dinh, Bac Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Thanh Tri, Hoang Mai, Gia Lam, Long Bien, Soc Son, Dong Anh, Me Linh, Ba Vi, Phuc Tho, Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc, Thanh Oai, Quoc Oai, Chuong My, Ung Hoa, My Duc, Thuong Tin, Phu Xuyen and Thach That.
The fireworks displays will begin at midnight and will last 15 minutes. In addition, Hanoi Capital High Command asked the local leaders to hold a training course for officials and soldiers who will operate the fireworks. Besides fireworks displays, Hanoi will organize many art performances to celebrate the Lunar New Year’s Eve, which falls on February 4.
Ten downtown key streets, including Trang Tien, Trang Thi, Hang Bai, Ba Trieu, Hai Ba Trung, Phan Chu Trinh, Ngo Quyen, Thanh Nien, Dien Bien Phu and Nguyen Thai Hoc, will be lit up with colorful lighting.
According to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Hoan Kiem walking street will be decorated with fresh flowers, while adorned archways will be erected in Vo Nguyen Giap highway. Mobile film screenings will be held in all districts and wards, especially in remote areas, industrial parks and export processing zones across the city.
