The program is part of the cooperation agreement between the Party committees and governments of Hanoi and Vientiane in 2022-2025. It also follows Hanoi's plan issued on August 21, 2024 to train vocational teachers from Vientiane in 2023-2025.

The two-month training course, which runs until May 16, 2025, will provide skills in hair design, graphic design, and culinary arts at Bac Thang Long Economic and Technical Secondary School in Kim Chung Commune, Dong Anh District and Hanoi Secondary School of Cooking, Tourism, and Fashion in Kham Thien Street, Dong Da District.

Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said Hanoi has a large and high-quality education system, especially in vocational training. Hanoi's vocational students have won top prizes in international competitions.

"A great teacher will always develop excellent students," Cuong said, adding, "That's why Hanoi is focusing on improving teachers' skills and qualifications."

Hanoi has long cooperated with Vientiane and Lao provinces to train students from the neighboring country in Vietnam's capital city.

"Hanoi has trained about 100 Laotian students in almost 10 years," Cuong said.

Cuong urged vocational schools in Hanoi to give the five Lao teachers full support so that they can have engaging lessons and meaningful learning experiences for their future employment.

He hoped that after two months, the teachers would have a better understanding of vocational education in Hanoi and Vietnam.

He also wished that these teachers would recommend more educators from Laos to come to Hanoi to exchange experiences and develop vocational training together.

Faifun Phommachack, representing the Lao teachers from Vientiane Labor Skills Development Center, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and support from Hanoi's education department.

She said the teachers are determined to study, get the best out of Hanoi's vocational experts, and apply the knowledge and skills to their work in the future.
