Hanoi university urged to be leading hub of innovation

The Vietnam National University-Hanoi is asked to turn into an advanced research university and one of the top 500 universities in the world by 2025.

In sci-tech activities, the Vietnam National University-Hanoi must be a leading hub of innovation, technology application and transfer center in the country, with regional and international prestige, Kinh Te & Do Thi quoted Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue as saying at the university’s Party Congress on August 16.

At the Congress, Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue asked the Vietnam National University-Hanoi to focus on training high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of national digital transformation, international integration and the 4.0 Industrial Revolution.

Along with the development of a modern university model with high autonomy and advanced governance system, Mr. Hue asked the university to set the target to enter the group of 500 top universities in the world.

“To achieve the goal, in the context of limited budget, in the next five years, the Vietnam National University-Hanoi needs to bring into full play the internal solidarity and intellect as well as mobilize all resources to make a breakthrough. Besides, the construction of Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac must be sped up towards a green university model, with facilities and equipment standards being harmonized with that of the world," said the municipal Party chief.

He expressed his belief that the university will become an advanced research university and one of the top 500 universities in the world by 2025.

“Officials, lecturers and scientists of the university are not only elite intellectuals, but also exemplary citizens who always actively contribute to the rapid and sustainable development of the country and the capital city," Mr. Hue emphasized.

He added that lecturers and scientists of the university need to take the lead in refuting the false arguments of hostile forces, defending the regime, protecting the interests of the people, and maintaining social and political stability.

The municipal Party chief pledged that Hanoi's authorities will create all conditions to help the university keep develop in all fields and soon become an advanced research center, a hub for higher education, research, knowledge transfer on a regional and international level.

On behalf of the Vietnam National University-Hanoi, Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, the university’s rector, said that his university will make all efforts to achieve the objectives and tasks set for the next five-year term.
