On February 16 afternoon, Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung met Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Mr. Hirofumi Katase.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to affirm the economic relations and trade between Vietnam and Japan, that have recently maintained strong growth. According to Mr. Katase, besides investments of big businesses, next time, the small and medium enterprises of Japan will also increase investment in Vietnam in general and Hanoi Capital in particular.
Mr. Katase expects that economic relations between the two sides will grow even more with the new focus fields such as agriculture and services. During a visit to Hanoi, Deputy Minister expressed his desire to talk with city leaders about the intended and potential for cooperation with Japan in the coming time.
Welcoming the visit of the Japanese delegation, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee expressed the confidence in the bilateral relations that will be elevated to new heights, especially after the earlier visit to Vietnam by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe this year. City Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung also stressed that cooperation between the two countries, the two Capitals will despite strong growth over time, will be commensurate with the bilateral potential.
According to Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung, the desired Capital and experts urged Japanese businesses to continue to invest, transfer technology in fields such as development of high-tech agricultural products; auxiliary industry; improve infrastructure, urban transport; medical technology transfer, pharmaceutical distribution; Souvenirs technology for tourism; construction of waste treatment systems; at the mean time enabling people of the two countries, the two Capitals continue to expand cultural exchanges, training and human resources development, two-way travel and so on. Especially, the upcoming Metro rail system project in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the Chairman expects that experts and Japanese businesses will support Vietnam in design consultancy, supply of construction equipment as well as the train rolling stock; to invest in finishing works.
Previous unanimous recommendations from the city's leaders, Deputy Minister Hirofumi Katase confirmed that in his position he would make every effort to promote cooperation between the two countries, the two Capitals. He also expressed his desire to continue the MPC as a bridge for the Japanese companies looking for expansion and promotion activities in Hanoi.
