There has been drastic increase of rate of infection for the disease in Hanoi. The pediatrics department of Bach Mai Hospital has 15 patients admitted suffering from pneumonia and conjunctivitis due to complications from measles.

The Infectious Department of the National Children Hospital treated over 200 children with breathing issues due to pneumonia in the past two months.

This is an abnormal rate of complications from measles, said Professor Pham Nhat An, deputy director of the National Children Hospital. The patients have rapidly contracted pneumonia with immediate prior symptoms of infection.
