Hanoi vows to speed up transport development projects

Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung had a meeting and worked with Country Director of the World Bank (WB) in Vietnam Victory Kwakwa on March 1, to discuss urban transport development projects in Hanoi.

During the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said, most of traffic development projects in Hanoi funded by the WB, epecially the fast bus project and 2 Ring Road construction, have met the needs in progress of implementation.

Speaking at the event, Director Victory Kwakwa said, Hanoi is one of two major cities of Vietnam. Therefore, the successful implementation of transportation projects will play an important role to the capital city and affect millions of local  residents.
On behalf of the World Bank, Victory Kwakwa pledged to support Hanoi in technical and financial fields, and help offer solutions to urban development in Hanoi.
For the fast bus project, the WB Director in Vietnam praised the recent efforts made by the municipal People's Committees and relevant districts.
Kwakwa also stressed to accelerate the project of Lang Ha Street overflyer.
About the 2 Ring Road project, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung affirmed that its clearance work will be finished in March and pledged to complete Nhat Tan Bridge - Cau Giay route in May this year, reducing congestion at Buoi intersection.
Kwakwa expressed her gratitude to the efforts made by the Hanoi Chairman in accelerating the progress of projects.
At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung and Director Victory Kwakwa also pledged to effectively use capital resources and supports for transportation projects of Hanoi.
