“Hanoi Weekend Music” brings Spring back to the heart of the capital

Without elaborate staging or dazzling lights, music resonated in an open space, blending naturally with the capital’s slowing rhythm as it prepared to welcome the New Year.

THE HANOI TIMES — “Hanoi Weekend Music” brought the feeling of spring back to the heart of the capital as the program returned to the Hoan Kiem Lake Pedestrian Area on the afternoon of December 28.

Held at the Octagonal House in Ly Thai To Flower Garden, the concert led audiences through familiar spring-themed songs closely tied to the memories of many generations. Classics such as Spring Afternoon Dream, Spring Calling, The First Spring and Joining Hands evoked past seasons while inspiring optimism for the year ahead.

The program gained a fresh tone through performances by Meritorious Artist Quyen Van Minh and musicians from Binh Minh Jazz Club. Jazz improvisation blended with well-loved Vietnamese melodies, creating a dialogue between international styles and local musical heritage. Pieces like Happy New Year, Billie’s Bounce, La vie en rose, Beyond the Sea and Sway added a modern yet nostalgic layer to the concert.

Spring-themed melodies fill the air, warming the lakeside space amid the chilly winter.

The event also functioned as an open cultural space where artists and audiences connected without barriers. Music became a shared experience, inviting reflection and emotional exchange during the year’s final days.

As spring melodies spread across Hoan Kiem Lake, “Hanoi Weekend Music” offered warmth, renewal and a hopeful sense of beginning.

Launched in November and organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the program has become a regular cultural highlight, reinforcing Hanoi’s image as a UNESCO Creative City and expanding public access to high-quality arts.

The captivating jazz melodies are brought to life by the acclaimed musician Quyen Thien Dac.

Music brings together audiences from around the world.
