According to the municipal Department of Tourism, the total number of tourists coming to Hanoi in the first 10 months of 2023 reached 20.7 million, up by 34.3% over the same period in 2022.

Among them, foreign arrivals totaled 3.6 million people, an increase of 3.5 times over the same period in 2022; domestic travelers numbered 17.1 million, up 19.1%; and the combined revenue from tourists amounted to an estimated VND76.3 trillion (US$3.1 billion), up 66.7% over the same period last year.

In October 2023, Hanoi welcomed 1.81 million visitors, an increase of 17.2% on an inter-annual basis, a decrease of 11% compared to September 2023. Among them, foreign arrivals reached 411,300, up 67.7% from the same period in 2022 and up 6% from the previous month. Domestic tourists accounted for 1.4 million, up 7.7% from the same period in 2022 and down 15% from September. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at about VND7.17 trillion ($292.1 million), up 69.6% over the same period in 2022 and down 7% compared to the previous month.

In October, the hotel occupancy rate in Hanoi was about 50.1%, down 7.5% from September. It is estimated that in the 10 months of 2023, the average hotel occupancy rate reaches 59.9%, an increase of 13.9% compared to the same period in 2022.

In recent years, Hanoi has been working hard to strengthen links with other localities nationwide to diversify tourism offerings and improve the quality of tourism services to attract more holidaymakers to the capital. Recently, the city's Department of Tourism has coordinated with relevant units to organize various tourism programs, namely the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival, the trial program of "Hanoi Night: The Touchstone of Emotions" and others.

In addition, the department continues to promote agricultural and rural tourism; conducts some research on community tourism model related to handicraft villages and ethnic minorities in Ba Vi District; surveys to build a waterway tour connecting tourist destinations on the Red River, and others.
