Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung has recently reviewed socio-economic development of the Capital city over the first half of the year.
The recent online meeting held by Vietnamese Government includes top leaders of the 63 provinces and cities and the Steering Committees of the Northwestern, Central Highlands, and Southwestern regions.
At the Hanoi’s point, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung reviewed socio-economic development of the capital city over the first half of the year. Accordingly, in the first six months of this year, the Hanoi's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) expanded 7.37 percent and the industrial production index (IPI) increased by 6.1 percent against the same period last year.
The city welcome 11.85 million visitors, up 8 percent year-on-year. That figure included 2.3 million international arrivals, up 14 percent year on year. Around 1,746 thousand international tourists made their stay in the capital city, an increase of 17.3 percent in comparison to the same period last year. By June 30, 2017, the city’s State budget collection reached more than VND102,616 billion, meeting 51.1 percent of the estimate for the year, increased by 20.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
Relating to administrative reform, the city has focused on reviewing all administrative procedures of departments to reduce and standardize administrative procedures. The time for solving administrative procedures in the fields of business registration decreased by 30 percent; investment decreased by 40-60 percent, planning and land decreased by 30-50 percent.
The Year of Administrative Discipline 2017 campaign has been carried out in all levels and agencies, significantly improving civil servants’ sense, attitude and service quality. The Capital City ranked second in IT application in administrative reforms, ranked third in Public Administration Reform (PAR) INDEX 2016 and climbed to the 14th place in terms of the provincial competitiveness index among 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
The city has completed the WAN connection, IT infrastructure to 584/584 communes, wards and towns. The city has connected document management software of the Government’s Office and Hanoi People’s Committee; all city’s departments, sectors, People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts, towns, wards, communes and townships use one document management software, and connected online. The city has implemented population database and online public services at level 3-4.The registered capital of investment projects outside the State budget reached VND190,922 billion, up 74.6 percent year-on-year.
Under the framework of the “Hanoi 2017 – Investment and Development Cooperation” conference, the city introduced the list of 136 projects to investors with total investment of VND 1.1 million billion. The city and investors also signed 15 memoranda of understanding worth nearly VND 134 trillion (US$ 5.94 billion) and presented decisions approving investment proposals and investment licenses for 48 projects with total registered capital of over VND74 trillion (US$ 3.25 billion) at the investors.
