Hanoi Old Quarter: Exceptional activities to celebrate Vietnam's 17th Cultural Heritage Day

The fascinating cultural events aim to introduce precious tangible and intangible heritages of Vietnam to the public and international friends.

According to Tran Thi Thuy Lan, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Old Quarter, Hanoi's authorities will hold a series of cultural events, including fashion shows, traditional music performances, talks and exhibitions at Hanoi’s Old Quarter area from November 18 to 30.

The series of cultural events aim to preserve and promote the great values of Vietnamese heritage among the community on the occasion of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day, which will fall on November 23.

“The Old Quarter has always been associated with the formation and development of Thang Long - Hanoi, where numerous valuable tangible and intangible cultural heritages have been preserved. Its craft guilds, streets, and villages have partly contributed to the prosperity of the thousand-year-old capital of Vietnam,” she stated.

“Through the program, folk artists, artisans, contemporary designers, and painters wish to join hands to preserve, promote and bolster the value of the heritages of Thang Long-Hanoi that has been passed down from generation to generation,” she added.

The program entitled “Multipaths of Silk” will feature fashion shows and displays showcasing the talents of local designers through sophisticated fashion items created from mulberry silk and brocade.
