Dao Manh Hung, 56 (Thanh Tri, Hanoi) owns a garden of over 20,000 plants, which is the largest rose garden in Hanoi.
Hung said that in the 1980s, he lived in Eastern European countries and saw varieties of rare, beautiful and precious roses. In addition to business purposes, the farm is also open for free to the rose lovers to admire traditional and imported flowers such as red velvet, Tuong Vy, three - color rose, Thanh Huong, Hoang Khanh, Minh Tu, Cat Anh, Abraham Darby and Mon Coeur rose. Besides, visitors will also have the opportunity to admire rare and precious species such as Bach Co, Khai Tue and Tam Xuan Bac rose,...
It is hard to believe that an 57- year- old man can be an owner of a 4 hectare ornamental plant farm and owns 20,000 roses with 300 rose varieties around the world and more than 10 domestic species.
With the love for sculpture art and bonsai planting, in the 1980s, he returned the country and began pursuing the passion.
Since 1996, he has collected and nurtured rose species in the country. At the time, he spent large amount of time, money to buy rose varieties for collection, planting and caring.
His passion was satisfied when in 2013, he was assigned by the local government to 4 hectares of land in Tam Hiep commune - Thanh Tri district to cultivate flowers and ornamental plants. He said: "Rose is one of the ornamental plants I have planted here, because my main job is to implement green projects, design living spaces for apartments, villas and balconies”.
Through over 3 years of devotion and passion with bonsai and roses, at present, Mr. Hung has made everyone surprised.
When visiting the garden, everyone must be "overwhelmed" of the blooming rose decorated according to the specific theme and space.
Dao Manh Hung said, "in order to have 300 varieties of imported roses, I have gone through a lot of research and breeded over the years and then purposely adapted to the climate in Vietnam."
Kim Phan rose is an unique one which is usually planted in the fence and for flowers all year round. A branch can give from a few dozen to hundreds of flowers.
In spite of its rareness, this tiny rose can make anyone "fall in love".
Many kinds of imported spieces will be grafted with domestic spring roses to maintain the quality form as well as resistant to the harsh climate in the North of Vietnam. In addition, the roses here are sold for 150,000 VND ($7)/pot.
In addition to the domestic and common species, this rose garden also has varieties of rare roses with high values such as Sapa ancient roses, Bach Van Khoi or Hai Phong roses. In which, many roses have a long life and worth up to hundreds of millions VND
