HCM City, RoK province sign MoU to jointly host world cultural festival 2017
A Memorandum of Understanding to co-host the world cultural festival 2017 was signed by authorities of HCM City and Gyeongsangbuk-do province from the Republic of Korea (RoK) on September 13 during the visit to RoK from September 7-14 of Secretary of HCM City’s Party Committee Dinh La Thang.
The two localities’ authorities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 13 to co-host the world cultural festival 2017 as part of the ongoing visit to the RoK by Secretary of HCM City’s Party Committee Dinh La Thang.
HCM City will partner with Gyeongsangbuk-do province from the Republic of Korea to hold the world cultural festival 2017.
At a meeting with Mayor of Gyeongsangbuk-do province Kim Kwan Yong, Secretary Thang said HCM City is honoured to organise the festival.
The signing of the MoU will set a foundation for the two localities to ensure the success of the event, he noted.
Mayor Kim Kwan Yong said the co-hosting of the festival demonstrates diversity in collaboration between Vietnamese and Korean localities, bringing the two countries’ peoples closer and creating a firm foundation for the strategic cooperative partnership.
The festival will help the two countries and people exchange culture.
As scheduled, the RoK will host Kpop music performances to treat Vietnamese audiences.
The Vietnamese official hoped the festival will help promote the culture of the respective societies.
He said HCM City wants to promote cultural exchanges with the Korean province and seek opportunities to develop the local economy.
Secretary Thang also proposed Mayor Yong encourage Gyeongsangbuk-do businesses to invest in key infrastructure development projects in HCM City, flooding reduction, environmental protection, and urban development.
The world cultural festival is scheduled to take place in HCM City across 25 days in November 2017 with the aim to increasing bilateral cultural exchanges.
It will include art performances, exhibitions, movies shows, and trade promotion activities.
RoK is currently the fourth biggest investor in HCM City with 1,252 projects worth over 4.3 billion USD. In 2015, two-way trade reached nearly 3 billion USD.
Gyeongsangbuk-do is home to many destinations recognised by UNESCO as world cultural heritage with traditional cultural festivals and special cuisine.
