HCMC-based Cho Ray Hospital honored at International Hospital Federation’s awards
Cho Ray Hospital is the first and only hospital in Vietnam to have been recognized as a member of the prestigious organization of International Hospital Federation.
Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City has received an honorable mention at the International Hospital Federation Awards 2021 (IHF).
The IHF has recently announced the winners of the IHF Awards 2021 at the 44th World Hospital Congress (WHC) in Barcelona, Spain.
Participating in this award for the first time, Cho Ray Hospital registered to compete in two categories of “Excellence Award for Leadership and Management of American College of Healthcare Executives” and “Austco Excellence Award for Quality and Patient Safety”

The former award is reserved for excellence or outstanding achievements in strong leadership and management in leading a hospital or a health service provider. Whereas, the latter recognizes excellence or outstanding achievements in promoting quality and patient safety.
In both categories, Cho Ray Hospital qualified for the final round and received an honorable mention at the award ceremony held in Barcelona along with many famous hospitals and healthcare organizations from the US, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Oman, UAE, among others.
The award committee, led by Dr. Lawrence Lai of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, selected the winners in the six categories from 250 entries submitted from 38 different countries and territories - the highest number of submissions since the awards were established in 2015.
Winners were chosen based on criteria such as originality and innovation, intended impact, adaptability and scalability, scientific rigor, and clarity.
Entries for the 2022 IHF awards are scheduled to open in March 2022 and will be awarded at the next WHC in Dubai.
The IHF Awards were launched in 2015 and have been recognized worldwide as the premier awards that honor hospitals and healthcare organizations.
IHF is an international non-profit organization founded in 1929, with its headquarters located in Geneva (Switzerland). IHF is currently the world's largest and most prestigious international organization for hospitals, with a mission to support, connect and form interactive channels between hospitals around the globe.
Cho Ray Hospital officially became a member of IHF on August 5, 2021. It is also the first and only hospital in Vietnam to have been recognized as a member of this prestigious organization.
