Hoi An documentary shown at regional festival

​ Independent filmmaker Siu Pham has showcased her latest two films Fog Over The Summit and Mother`s Room at the 5th Experimental Media Art Festival in Taipei.

Mother's Room is a motion picture that delves into maternal and paternal issues. It received the Best Unique Vision award at the Queen World Film Festival this year in New York.

The documentary Fog Over The Summit was shot in Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam in a single year. It was completed only recently, in October.

The director met and spoke with the audience after the screening of each film at the festival.

"Siu Pham makes films that are difficult to classify. She is a master at making all stories simple but unique," noted a brief introduction about the director at the festival.

Born in 1948, Pham studied the History of Art and Film Analysis at Geneve University. Since 1990, she has worked for Geneve University as a director of contemporary dance and theatre.

Her first television film Here or There was chosen to compete in the New Trends sector at the Busan Film Festival.

Pham's A Shade Of Paradise received a cash award of US$10,000 at the 3rd Ha Noi International Film Festival in 2014.

The 5th Experimental Media Art Festival, is held from December 23 to 28 under the theme "Close To Vie.t Nam."

Body Phase Studio co-ordinated with its Vietnamese counterparts, including Ha Noi Doclab and YxineFF, to organise the festival.
