Hundreds of circus performers of 11 troupes from eight countries, including Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Ukraine and Vietnam will attend the International Circus Festival 2016 in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue from May 28 to June 4.
The international circus festival will take place in Hue City in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, attracting 11 troupes from Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Ukraine and Vietnam.
The International Circus Festival is co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Department of Performing Arts and the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The event aims to promote the cooperation in the fields of culture and fine arts between Vietnam and other countries.
Through the festival, Vietnamese art managers and circus artists will have a chance to exchange valuable experiences on the nature of life in human circus troupes, learn effective methods of organisation, management and create high-quality artistic works to meet the demand of people in contemporary times.
Local spectators will also have an opportunity to enjoy top circus acts by international artists. They will be able to enjoy six shows, each staging 11-13 performances.
Magic shows, juggling, sports and swinging acts, as well as roller skating, acrobatics and acts by clowns will be on display at the festival.
Based on the assessment of a five-member art council, including Vietnamese and foreign veteran circus artists, the gold and the silver medals will be presented to artists with the best circus acts (excluding bonus). The prize criterion is based on actual artistic quality, regardless of the type of act.
Besides, the organising board will award prizes to individual artists and groups with unique creativity. Souvenir cups will be given to all circus troupes, artists and groups participating in the festival.
The closing gala will be held on June 4.
