Hue Festival 2024 to feature special light show

Twenty scenes of sound and light installations based on the history of the Hue Imperial Citadel will delight visitors to next month's Hue Festival.

A light festival themed "Hue Imperial Citadel: A Magical and Poetic Walk" will be held from June 8 to 22 at the Thai Binh Lau or Royal Reading Pavilion of the Hue Imperial Citadel in central Vietnam.

The 3D mapping light show will be performed by artists and lighting experts from France and Vietnam to a vibrant musical backdrop. Photos: Institut Français du Vietnam (IFV)

Thua Thien-Hue Province organizes the cultural event under the sponsorship of the French Embassy and the Institut Français du Vietnam or the French Institute in Vietnam to promote the value of Hue Imperial Citadel's heritage as well as the local tourism industry.

Accordingly, the festival will feature 12 light and sound installation performances, including "Silk Dream," "Lotus Pond," "Quang Minh Vien," or "The Garden of Light," which will take viewers on an exploration of the history and beauty of the Hue Imperial Citadel through light and sound displays on artifacts.

Many advanced technologies will be used, including smart grid systems through solar panels, stage lighting systems, video mapping, LED Artnet, infrared sensors, fiber optics, and remote-controlled smoke generators.

It took AC3 Studio's team of French and Vietnamese engineers over a year to find the technical solutions and create the program.

240 flashing lanterns are installed at the entrance gate of the Royal Reading Pavilion of Hue Imperial Citadel.

The event is part of the Hue Festival and Hue International Arts Festival 2024, which runs from June 7 to 22 at major tourist attractions in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

Under the theme "Cultural Heritage with International Integration and Development", Hue Festival 2024 will feature a series of outstanding events, including the Spring Festival from January to March, the Summer Festival from April to June, the Autumn Festival from July to September, the Winter Festival from October to December, and hundreds of other activities.

Hue, the imperial capital of Vietnam for over 100 years, is a unique destination in central Vietnam with its five UNESCO heritage elements: the ancient citadel relic complex, Hue royal court music, Nguyen dynasty wooden blocks, Nguyen dynasty royal administrative documents and literature on Hue royal architecture.

Previously, in December 2023, AC3 Studio's light show "Hue by Light - The Live Show" was successfully staged at Ngo Mon or the South Gate of Hue Imperial Citadel as the culmination of the series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Vietnam.
