Hue Monuments Conservation Centre expects to draw more tourists

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, in the central Thua Thien-Hue province is holding the “Promoting services for tourism” plan, using community and businesses resources to promote the relics’ values in the remaining months of this year.

Since the start of 2016, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre welcomed almost two million visitors, including 1.43 million foreigners, an increase of 36.5% year-on-year.
Along with organising some exhibitions on the relics, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre is implementing the “Promoting services for tourism” plan, using community and businesses resources to promote the relics’ values.
The revenue earned by the plan since the start of the year reached 11 billion VND (US$493,130).

The centre has invested nearly 5 billion VND (US$224,100) in small restoration works at relics and infrastructure to serve visitors.
The centre has also preserved intangible heritage. The Hue Royal Traditional Theatre has more than 100 trained and experienced performers, experts and artists, with dozens of traditional ritual songs and royal dances to be delivered to visitors.
Besides, the centre is expected to open the Imperial Citadel at night from next summer, completing the brochure of An Dinh Palace and designing souvenirs to promote royal antiquities.
The places include Ngo Mon Gate (Noon Gate), Thai Hoa Palace (Supreme Harmony Palace), The Mieu (Ancestral Temple), Dien Tho Palace, Truong Sanh Palace, Tu Phuong Vo Su Pavilion and Hoa Binh Gate (Peace Gate).
The move aims to offer tourists more time to cover interesting places in the Citadel due to their feedback on hot weather in summer.
The 520ha Hue Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, is situated along the Huong (Perfume) River. Hue was the capital of Vietnam under the Nguyen Dynasty – the country’s last feudal dynasty (1802-1945).
