As of the end of November, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased 5.6% compared to the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.
Over the past 11 months, the index of the processing and manufacturing sector rose 7.1% and contributed 5% to the increase. That of the electricity sector was up 8.6% and the water supply, waste and liquid treatment sector up 9.2%. The mining sector decreased 0.5%.
Ho Chi Minh City’s IIP rose 6%, Dong Nai 7.6%, Binh Duong 7.4%, Ha Noi 4.4%, Hai Phong 4.2% and Bac Ninh 4.3%.
As of October 2013, the consumption index of the processing and manufacturing sector increased 10.4% compared to the same period last year.
The production of car engine witnessed the highest increase of 37.3%, followed by leather production and related products up 30.6%, rubber and plastic production up 17.6% and electricity equipments production up 17.1%.
