International arrivals to Hanoi increase by 44% in February

In February, the number of international visitors to Hanoi was estimated at 238,000 arrivals, an increase of 44% over the same period last year.

Notably, tourism in the capital city of Hanoi saw positive signs from January to February with a year-on-year surge of 28% in the number of visitors, especially from Thailand, China, RoK and Malaysia.
The number of domestic tourists increased by 0.9% compared to the previous month and up 1.6% over the same period in 2015.
The long period of Tet holiday made a good opportunity for people to travel at home and abroad.

Travel companies in Hanoi offered special tours during Tet  holiday,  and the city's tourism sector was estimated to welcome hundreds of thousands of domestic and foreign visitors.
Besides, Hanoi promoted the organisation of the Tet festival with various activities such as holding exhibitions, trade fairs, and fireworks.
In nine days of the Tet holidays, the capital of Hanoi received approximately 82,000 foreign tourists, an increase of 65% over the same period in 2015.
According to the statistics, in the first 2 months this year, international visitors stayed in Hanoi increased by 28%, domestic tourists rose by 1.3%.
Number of international visitors from some key markets increased over the same period such as Republic of Korea (up 48%), Thailand (66%), China (up 63.7%), and Malaysia (up 25,9%).
From early this year, Hanoi opened  some big festivals such as the Dong Da festival, Giong Temple Festival and Huong Pagoda Festival.
From the second day of the lunar month, Huong Pagoda welcomed about 300,000 visitors, including 500 foreign tourists. 2016 Huong Pagoda festival is expected to receive 1.5 million visitors.
Director of the municipal Tourism Department Do Dinh Hong said the city targets to attract 22 million arrivals in 2016, and earn 60 trillion VND from the sector, up 8% compared with 2015.
Hanoi will proactively carry out tourism promotion activities aboard in order to attract more foreign tourists, Hong added.
