International marathon through Hanoi's cultural landmarks starts in November

The Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race 2024 will attract more than 18,000 athletes from 55 countries.

The Hanoi Heritage Marathon course is designed by global standards for all major marathons with all four distances (5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km) standardized and certified by the Association of International Marathon and Distance Races.

Starting from Thien Quang Lake, runners will make their way through Hanoi's fabled Old Quarter, consisting of 36 historic streets, then through several streets surrounding the picturesque West Lake - the area with endless photo opportunities. From there, the course takes runners to the Hai Ba Trung, Hoan Kiem, and Ba Dinh districts, the more modern and vibrant side of Hanoi.

The full marathon course will pass through Hanoi's four major lakes: Hoan Kiem LakeWest Lake Minh Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square, and the Hanoi Flag Tower.

A city full of nostalgia, charm, glory, and energy will be enveloped in the Standard Chartered Hanoi Heritage Marathon Race 2024. The course has been carefully designed to ensure maximum safety and appeal to runners as they pass through the capital's iconic heritage sites.

The annual marathon in Hanoi draws the participation of international and Vietnamese runners.

This is the first marathon in Vietnam to be supported by the top-rated Bach Mai Hospital, with over 1,000 medical professionals at the event. As the official medical provider for the marathon, Bach Mai's medical experts are responsible for providing quick and efficient first aid/treatment, prioritizing athlete safety above all else.

Aiming to protect the environment, after the race, the used shoes will be collected and donated to underprivileged civilians in remote regions of the country. This initiative promotes the spirit of sharing in the community, encourages reuse, and reduces waste, thus contributing to Vietnam's sustainable development. People who donate will receive a VND200,000 (US$8) discount coupon to buy new shoes from Xtep.

The opening ceremony of the Standard Chartered Hanoi Heritage Marathon Race 2024 will be held on November 1 at Thong Nhat Park, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi. This is a unique blend of music and sports, using marathons to foster the spirit of competition, strength, endurance, and community building.
