The second cross-country cycling championship, the Vietnam Victory Challenge, kicked off on March 10 in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

The competition will take place in Da Lat city and Lac Duong district from March 11-13 with the participation of 165 cyclists from Vietnam and foreign countries.
The riders will be grouped into eight teams according to their skills, age and gender, competing in two main stages.
Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thi Nguyen said the annual event aims at disseminating local tourism, and protecting the environment.
The organising board will also raise funds from sponsors for charitable purposes, she added.
In 2015, the tournament attracted 90 riders from Vietnam and 10 other countries with foreign riders coming out on top in both the men’s and women’s events.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Victory Challenge Trail Run will open for the first time on March 19.
