Japan fund to maintain Vietnam roads

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a contract with Vietnam Road Administration (VRA) o­n July 1, for a project to improve road management and maintenance, worth US$4.3 million.

The Hanoitimes - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a contract with Vietnam Road Administration (VRA) o­n July 1, for a project to improve road management and maintenance, worth US$4.3 million.


The project aims to help VRA to improve road maintenance by designing a modern information system to manage and monitor the entire national road network of a total length of 16,785 kilometers.

The project uses a software program developed by experts from Kyoto University that can analyze and evaluate the actual state of the road damage and determine the level of repair required along with estimated maintenance costs.

The project money in non refundable aid from the Japanese Government and will be implemented over a two and a half year period, beginning mid 2011.
