At the meeting, Chairman Chung made the remark that Hanoi wants to continue getting help from Japan in many fields, particularly urban transport, greening, and the environment.

Chung said the city has been calling for long-term investment in transportation infrastructure with priority to public transport like urban railway. The city is working on the planting of 1 million trees and will break ground for a new wastewater treatment facility in October, he told the Japanese official.

Kitaoka Shinichi said that Hanoi has been developing dynamically over years and JICA’s cooperation with the city is effective.

JICA will continue working with Hanoi to seek solutions and ideas to solve transport issues emerged during the urban development, he said. The ODA loans aim to help Hanoi build essential infrastructure to improve its economic competitiveness and environment.
