After her first-ever concert in Hanoi in May, overseas Vietnamese diva Khanh Ly will return home to perform in her second concert on August 2 in Hanoi and August 8 in Da Nang.
"I still feel emotion when singing on the stage at home for the first time. It is the best happiness and the best luck for a wandering singer in more than 60 years like me. My dream is traveling all over the country to sing and say thanks to all the audiences who have loved me through a lifetime," she said.
In the second concert, Khanh Ly will perform with guest vocalists like Le Thu, Khanh Ha, Quang Dung and musician Nguyen Anh 9.
The "Khanh Ly in Hanoi" concert will take place on August 2 at the National Convention Centre and "Khanh Ly in Da Nang" will be held on August 8 at the Tien Son Sports Palace.
Khanh Ly, born in 1945, has been praised as the best performer of songs by Trinh Cong Son, the most famous Vietnamese musician in modern times. Ly left Vietnam for the US in 1975. Since then she has returned home twice, but did not perform until May 2014, with only one night in Hanoi.
Prior to Khanh Ly, many overseas Vietnamese artists of several generations have returned home to sing for the Vietnamese audience, including Elvis Phuong, Duc Huy, Tuan Ngoc, Le Thu, Giao Linh, Che Linh, Tu Cong Phung and Huong Lan.
Younger artists such as Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen, Phi Nhung, Linda Trang Dai, Truong Vu, Quang Le, Hoai Linh, and Jimmi Nguyen perform regularly in Vietnam.
