"King Kong" to open up a chance to promote Vietnam's image

The crew of Hollywood movie “Kong: Skull Island” has entered the second day of filming in Quang Binh province, an event that is expected to open up a good opportunity to promote an image of Quang Binh and Vietnam in general to the world.

Vietnam's tourism sector has witnessed positive effects from the cinema, beside other traditional advertising and promotion forms.

After the movies of "Dong Duong" (Indochina) and "Nguoi tinh" (Lover) filmed in Vietnam, the number of French tourists to the country increased sharply. Then, "The Quiet American" of director Phillip Noyce continued to introduce the image of Vietnam to the world.
Through the arrival of the film crew "Kong: Skull Island" (King Kong), Vietnam has added a new channel to promote the country's image effectively and economically.

The filming will take place at the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

The event is expected to lure tens of thousands of international visitors to Vietnam.
"When we got out of the car, we immediately saw a stunningly beautiful sight that we thought was not real. It was magical," said director Jordan Vogt-Roberts at the press conference held in Hanoi before shooting the film.
"When audiences watch Lord of the Ring and feel stunned by the beauty of the nature in sequences taken in New Zealand, they all want to visit the place. I think they will feel the same for Vietnam when they see Kong. Scenes taken in Vietnam are important to the film," added Vogt-Roberts.
As scheduled, the film will be shot in Quang Ninh, Quang Binh and Ninh Binh provinces over a five week period.
Especially the filming will take place at heritage sites throughout Vietnam, such as Ha Long Bay, Van Long Natural Reserve, Trang An Complex, and the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
The film' s director and producer Alex Garia promised: "The film shot in Vietnam undoubtedly will introduce the country's image on the its trailer."
Addressing the press conference, US Ambassador Ted Osius stressed that the American film industry is a global leader in artistic expression.
"Wouldn't it be wonderful if Vietnam could benefit, as Thailand has, from a vibrant foreign film industry? According to the Thailand Film Office, 2015 gained 89 million USD in revenue from productions of 63 feature films," added Ambassador Ted Osius.
He appreciated Vietnam's support for this film project, adding that the film will highlight Vietnam as an attractive tourism destination and deepen ties between the two countries' entertainment industries.
The Government and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism always support and facilitate the cooperation with foreign film producers to promote the country's image to the world.
