The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union kicked off its summer volunteering campaign with the participation of 5,000 young volunteers in northern Thai Nguyen province on May 28.
The summer volunteering campaign runs through August with an array of activities, including the provision of free check-ups and medicine to disadvantaged communities, blood donation campaigns, and a musical concert to cheer up patients at Thai Nguyen General Hospital.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, President of the Vietnam Youth Federation Nguyen Phi Long appealed to the young volunteers urging them to focus on enhancing the effectiveness of their work and identifying additional practical projects to carry out in their localities.
The summer volunteering campaign, launched since 2000, have impacted significantly on communities across the country and played an important role in educating the young generation.
