Living space per person sets to rise to 0.6 square metres in 2016
The Ministry of Construction targets to raise average living space per person to 22.6 square metres in 2016, increasing 0.6 square metres compared with the figure of 2015.
The Construction ministry will focus on directing the deployment of the Law on Housing and other relevant decrees and circulars, guiding and supervising localities in carrying out the main housing development programmes to achieve the target.
According to Agency for Management of Housing and Real Estate Market under the Ministry of Construction, the average living space per person reached 22 square metres by December 2015, up 1.1 and 4.5 square metres against to 2014 and 2010, respectively.
In 2015, under the social housing programme, about 1 million square metres in urban areas were built, raising the total figure across the country to 2.8 million square metres.
The housing programme also achieved positive results in 2015, with 13 housing projects with 6,164 apartments for low-income earners and 20 projects with 8,273 apartments designed for workers.
With another 171 projects which have been constructing, will provide a total of 130,590 apartments to low-income earners and workers.
