Lunar New Year Celebration 2017 part II

Lunar New Year is the most important holidays in Vietnam. Often dubbed with Chinese New Year, Lunar New Year (following lunar calendar) is celebrated nationally not only in Mainland China, but also in a number of countries and territories such as Vietnam, Korea, Mongolia, Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong and Tibet. The first day of Lunar New Year in 2017 is January 28, and the animal represents this Lunar New Year is the Rooster.
In Vietnam, Lunar New Year is called Tet (Tết), and public holidays for Lunar New Year 2017 span from 26 January to 02 February (7 days). During these public holidays, most institutions, businesses and companies are closed so that people can spend time with their families. There are no fireworks this year in Hanoi or HCMC because the Government plans to use the budget to support families having suffered from the disastrous flood last year in central Vietnam.
Project "Get Creative with Tet Paintings 2017" To honor the traditional folk culture of Vietnamese people, to learn about the ancient Tet, the project “Get Creative with Tet Paintings 2017” is initiated by the lecturer and student from Vietnam University of Fine Arts at Temple of Literature this year!!!
Different from last year event, this will a good time for all art lovers who love to have different experiences.
In additions, we also select the best work for the prize “Spring Gifts for the Arts” (Lộc xuân với nghệ thuật). The rules, forms and prizes will be announced soon.
“Get Creative with Tet Paintings 2017″ will open on  21 Jan and be on display until  11 Feb 2017, 9 – 11.30 am, 2 – 6 pm at Van Lake, Temple of Literature, Hanoi.
Sculpture Exhibition “Dints” by Khong Do Tuyen
The solo exhibition “Dints”, featuring 17 sculptures by sculptor Khong Do Tuyen.
“The impact from the outside on everything always creates variations and changes that sometimes “visible” or “invisible”. However, the traces of these impact always stay there. Just when looking into the journey of each thing, we will feel the life and move inside it – the movement to adapt, to change or rise then escape from the impact. “The imprint” is my viewpoint and feelings towards life.” – Khong Do Tuyen
Sculpture Exhibition “Dints” will open on 13 Jan and be on display until  13 Feb 2017 at UrbanArt, 46 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
Photo Exhibition “Double Artists” by Diego Cortizas
During this Tet Holidays and until 21st of March you can enjoy of this photo exhibition with 40 portraits of Vietnamese artists. This project was started 4 months ago by Diego Cortizas and is serie of double exposure photographs with the portraits of the artists blended with their work.
Photo Exhibition “Double Artists” will open on 22 Jan and be on display until 21 Mar, 9 am – 6 pm at Chula, 43 Nhat Chieu, Hanoi.
Exhibition “Hanoi” – Debut of Urban Sketchers Hanoi
The opening of exhibition “Hanoi” and debut of the sketch group Urban Sketchers Hanoi who records the heritages, beautiful images and distinct lifestyle of Hanoi through sketching.
We kept these memories over time when Hanoi is changing day by day because of urbanization and gradually losing the treasured value. Hanoi Urban Sketchers aims to preserve Hanoi’s heritage and help people who live here have deeper understanding about it. Urban Sketcher Hanoi is one of sketch groups of Urban Sketchers Vietnam and a member of Urban Sketchers Group. Founded in 2016, with nearly 400 members, we sketch and share to keep the beautiful images of urban heritage, help people have deeper understanding about where they live and promote them to the world.
