Lunar New Year Celebration 2017

Lunar New Year is the most important holidays in Vietnam. Often dubbed with Chinese New Year, Lunar New Year (following lunar calendar) is celebrated nationally not only in Mainland China, but also in a number of countries and territories such as Vietnam, Korea, Mongolia, Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong and Tibet. The first day of Lunar New Year in 2017 is January 28, and the animal represents this Lunar New Year is the Rooster.
In Vietnam, Lunar New Year is called Tet (Tết), and public holidays for Lunar New Year 2017 span from 26 January to 02 February (7 days). During these public holidays, most institutions, businesses and companies are closed so that people can spend time with their families. There are no fireworks this year in Hanoi or HCMC because the Government plans to use the budget to support families having suffered from the disastrous flood last year in central Vietnam.

The Heritage Site will be closed on 26 – 28 Jan 2017. Places for incense offering and praying will still be open. The site will be reopened for sightseeing from 29 Jan 2017.
Celebrating Year of the Rooster with Northwest Mountainous Culture of Son La
During the very first weekend after Tet, the most exciting museum in Vietnam will bring to you an interesting traditional program through the activities of Thai, Hmong, Kho Mu ethnic minorities. The festival will take place on 04 and 05 Feb 2017, 8.30 am – 5.30 pm at Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, Nguyen Van Huyen, Cau Giay, Hanoi.
“Spring Celebrations Across the Country” 2017
A huge traditional festival will take place 40 km away from bustling Hanoi center with the participation of 190 people from 16 ethnic communities. This might well be a fantastic getaway for families before heading back to busy working schedules after holidays. The festival will take place on 04 – 05 Feb 2017, at Vietnam National Village For Ethnic Culture And Tourism, Dong Mo, Son Tay, Ha Noi.
