Miss Universe contestants model traditional scarves

Vietnamese representative Truong Thi May, the 2007 Miss Ethnic Vietnam runner-up, has presented traditional scarves to this year’s Miss Universe pageant contestants.

The scarves are casual garments worn by the majority of women in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region. Truong Thi May explained the scarves’ traditional significance to her international friends.

The gifts were especially valued by the Miss Universe contestants, forced to bear the cold Moscow winter. The scarves make striking fashion accessories.
