Musician Duc Tri to hold lifetime concert in Hanoi

The concert will feature the most representative songs of Duc Tri, who shaped the landscape of Vietnamese music from the late 90s to the 2000s.

For musician Duc Tri, Hanoi is a land to pass by, but strangely, he is becoming more and more affectionately attached to this place. Therefore, on October 1, Duc Tri will organize a live concert  Like the Wind to Travel in Hanoi, which promises to be the largest program in his career.

Sharing the reason for choosing Hanoi, musician Duc Tri said his audience is mostly Hanoians.

"Last year, I had some music shows in Da Lat (Lam Dong) where up to 70% of the audience came from Hanoi. So there is no reason not to organize the biggest music night here," Duc Tri said.

From a producer's perspective, musician Duc Tri also stressed that Hanoi is a music market with great potential.

From his experience producing shows for many singers, he realized that Hanoi people enjoy music in different ways, not just for entertainment. So does Tri. He calls Like the Wind to Travel a live concert, not a live show because it focuses on the music, not the performance of singers or dancers.

He said singers who want to develop their careers often choose the southern market because Vietnam's major studios and music companies are concentrated there. Ho Chi Minh City is a place with many opportunities for young people, but Duc Tri is not one of them. He's not a new talent looking for opportunities.

"Everyone thinks concerts should be held in Ho Chi Minh City because the show business is vibrant there. But as a producer, I found that Hanoi is a good place for music events. This is where the audience gets the best music and has the highest demand for music enjoyment," said musician Duc Tri.

Like the Wind to Travel is also the name of the first song composed by musician Duc Tri in 1995, but it was only recorded for the first time in 2013 through the performance of singer Pham Thu Ha. Tri said he wasn't confident enough to release it earlier.

This almost-forgotten song is also the foundation of Duc Tri's later compositional style, which follows other genres but always maintains the beauty of melody and lyrics.

The audience will travel together in the colorful musical space of musician Duc Tri through his most representative songs.

From there, they will feel the hidden beauty, the secrets kept in the artist's private realm, to understand where the most popular songs were born.

Tri revealed that these stories will be an integral part of the concert. The audience will hear the author talk about his songs, with never-before-heard stories that have been kept secret for many years.

The live concert will feature singers associated with Duc Tri's music: Phuong Thanh, My Tam, Lan Nha, Pham Anh Khoa and Quoc Thien.

The program will take place on October 1 at 8 pm at the Hanoi National Convention Center.

Born in 1973, Duc Tri graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, with a degree in composing and producing contemporary music. He has produced albums for singers such as Ho Ngoc Ha, Ho Quynh Huong, Duc Tuan, Le Hieu, Pham Anh Khoa, Phuong Vy and Quoc Thien. He has many songs loved by young people. As a producer, he's involved in organizing shows for many international singers in Vietnam.
