State President Truong Tan Sang welcomed new Ambassadors of Guinea, Luxembourg and Portugal in Hanoi on March 19, who all vowed all possible support to nurture bilateral ties during their tenure.

He hoped that Guinea would back Vietnam’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 period.
Beyond 2015, the leader wants Guinea to extend rice export programme with Vietnam, and suggested further joint work in rice and plant cultivation, as well as signing deals to push trade, culture, education, health care ties forward.
Sow said the close cooperation would be a foundation to lift economic ties to a new height.
At a reception for Ambassador of Luxembourg Robert Lauer, the State leader proposed facilitating all-level visits in order to strengthen multifaceted engagements.
Luxembourg is currently the fourth biggest European Union (EU) investor in Vietnam, he said.
Lauer said Luxembourg wants to further diversify relations with Vietnam, especially in development programmes.
He assured the host that Luxembourg would urge for the early conclusion of negotiations between Vietnam and the EU this year.
While meeting Portuguese Ambassador Luis Manuel Barreira de Sousa, the leader hoped for Portugal’s support to the approval of the Vietnam – EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and the Vietnam – EU Free Trade Agreement in 2015.
He said several bilateral agreements could be signed to facilitate business operations in each country.
The guest vowed support in Portuguese training in Hanoi University, and suggested Vietnam open a Vietnamese faculty in Portugal, thereby reinforcing coordination between universities.
