New Zealand willing to support Hanoi in education, agriculture

Hanoitimes - On March 7th, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung received Mrs Wendy Matthews, New Zealand Ambassador in Vietnam.

At the reception, the Ambassador confirmed, New Zealand-Vietnam tie enhanced and developed strongly during the past time, based strongly on the bond with Hanoi. Hence, mutual cooperation still have room to expand, especially in education, disaster risk management and high tech agriculture. About Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in 2017, Mrs Matthews committed NZ willingness to support Vietnam as well as Hanoi hosting the event. On this occasion, the Ambassador consult the development focus of Hanoi in the near future.

The leader of Hanoi People’s committee also draw out potential cooperation issues; such as tourism, agriculture and education. Especially, Mr Nguyen Duc Chung suggested the exchange program, in which Hanoi government send official, expert to study in New Zealand about public administration. “In the next five years, we intend to pour about 250m USD to train Hanoi official, civil servant, expert in related field”, he stressed.
Agreed with suggestion of the Chairman, Mrs Wendy Matthews confirmed, with new postion would try her best to facilitate bilateral cooperation.
