Taking place from May 11 to 15, 60 activities of the 9th Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Sea Festival will highlight the combination of the traditional, contemporary and modern cultural traits.
More than 15,000 domestic and foreign visitors attended the opening ceremony of the 2019 National Tourism Year with theme “The Color of Sea” and Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Sea Festival in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province, VnExpress reported.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that Nha Trang has been chosen as a place to organize the 2019 National Tourism Year and the event is expected to bring many opportunities for the local tourism development.
In 2018, Vietnam ranked third among six countries with the highest tourist growth by the UN World Tourism Organization. According to Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam, over the years, Vietnam’s tourism sector has seen great breakthrough development in both quality and quantity with many large-scale projects and prestigious travel trademarks.
Dam said that tourism has contributed to reducing poverty in remote and mountainous areas, ensuring and promoting the value of heritage and enhancing cultural exchanges among regions, countries and nations. Tourism has become a spearhead sector of many localities.
The deputy PM pointed out that Vietnam’s tourism sector still has great development potential, but requires the joint efforts of localities and the community to tap it.
As Khanh Hoa has become one of the most famous destinations in the country, Dam asked the province to pay greater attention to further investment in the local tourism sector, commensurate with the potential and advantages.
According to Chairman of Khanh Hoa province People’s Committee Le Duc Vinh, with three bays - Van Phong, Nha Trang and Cam Ranh – and Nha Trang recognized as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, the province is striving to make Nha Trang city and North Cam Ranh Peninsula Tourism Site a high-quality tourism trademark in 2020.
